Shapewear relies on stretch and recovery, and heat or harsh detergents wear that down. A few simple habits keep your pieces smooth and supportive for longer.
How to wash a faja or bodysuit
- Fill a basin with cold water and a small amount of gentle detergent.
- Soak the garment for a few minutes and gently squeeze the fabric. Do not twist or wring it.
- Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Press out excess water with a towel and lay the garment flat to dry, away from direct heat.
This is the care we recommend for the Sculpt Faja and our bodysuits: hand wash cold and lay flat to dry.
How to wash seamless briefs
Machine wash cold in a lingerie bag and air dry. This protects the seamless knit and keeps the edges flat. The 7-piece brief set follows this routine.
Care mistakes to avoid
| Avoid | Why |
|---|---|
| Hot water | Heat weakens elastic fibers and reduces stretch |
| Bleach and fabric softener | Both can damage elastane and reduce compression |
| Tumble dryer | High heat and tumbling shorten the life of the garment |
| Wringing or twisting | Stretches the fabric out of shape |
How often should you wash shapewear?
Wash it after each wear or two, depending on how warm you were and how long you wore it. Rotating between two or three pieces gives the elastic time to recover.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put shapewear in the dryer?
We recommend laying it flat to dry. Heat shortens the life of the elastic.
How do I keep white or nude shapewear looking clean?
Wash it separately from dark colors in cold water with gentle detergent.
